Thank You

Here is an award I received from a delightful lady. Whimseytopia blog is delightful to read and Patsye is a delightful person to know.  Did I say this is a delightful place to visit?  She is an extremely creative person and she created this award herself. I am honored to be one of the first to receive it. Please visit her blog and get to know her yourself.

Another blog that has been around since the beginning of the year, also delightful with a great sense of humor, is Southpaw Stitcher. I have not posted regularly for quite some time now and have neglected to mention this one as one of my favorites. So check it out. She is an expert needleworker and a new quilter (doing quite well I might say).  Please visit her blog as well.

I have been extremely busy with home dec creations for my daughter’s dining room, so I will post more creative things with photos later.

Thanks for continually visiting my blog space.

PIF Gifts Mailed to Recipients

Here are two gifts I made and finally completed for a Pay It Forward.   Last Fall I received a Pay It Forward award (a lovely temari ball) from Jane at World Embroideries and now after eleven months, I have finally sent my Pay It Forward awards to the two people who won them on my blog.   For Anne at Nanouanne, I made a needlework biscornu.   I forgot to take a photo of the biscornu I made, but Anne took a lovely photo of it and she is letting me use her photo for my blog.

And for Karol at  Rosebud’s Stitching I made a small Amish Friendship Basket Wall Hanging.   I forgot to take a photo of Karol’s finished gift as well, but here is a photo of one exactly the same as I made for Karol…only Karol’s had a different binding.AmishBaskets

Both items were made in friendship.   I chose a quilted piece for Karol because she is an expert needleworker and is not a quilter that I know of.   And for Anne who does lovely quilting and is an artist in many areas including Art Trading Cards, I thought to make a cross-stitched piece because I don’t think she does cross-stitching.   I just wanted their gifts to be different.   It was a fun thing to do to send a surprise in the mail.    Amities, Averyclaire

Bookworm Award

bookworm_award

Marjorie tagged me for the Bookworm Award. The rules for this award are:

Open the book closest to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, and turn to page 56.  Write out the fifth sentence, as well as two to five sentences following that.  And pass the award on to five blogging friends.

I can never follow the rules :((   I have so many books that I cannot pick one and bore you with page 56 and the fifth sentence.  But…for those who are curious and wish to know what I read…here goes.

While I am an avid reader, I must admit I am not primarily reading anything at the moment.  However, I do have some books on my nightstand just waiting for me as the spirit moves.  So, depending on how I am feeling on any one night, I have at my fingertips, Scott Turow’s old one, “Presumed Innocent;”  Richard Paul Evans new one…”Grace;” Joseph LeMaitre’s, “French: How to Speak and Write It;” (I am always working on this one); Stanley Appelbaum’s “French Reader: A Dual Language Book” (a great way to read French and have the English translation immediately at hand) and Nora Roberts new Christmas one, “First Impressions.”  I have begun all of these except the Nora Roberts one.  I actually skip around and read each one depending on what mood I am in.  I bought Grace and First Impressions for the holiday season….I hope they are good holiday reads.

Here are some I just finished:

Karen Armstrong’s, “History of God;” Paul Knitter’s, “Jesus and Other Names: Christian Mission and Global Responsibility;” Andrew Greeley’s, “The Bishop and the Beggar Girl of St. Germaine;” and “Country French Living” by Meredith Books.

I subscribe to a couple of quilting magazines, Marie Claire Idees French magazine, Nutrition Action Newsletter (upon the advice of Marjorie) and also receive Reader’s Digest.

So now, I would like to know what the following five friends are reading…Paddy’s Daughter, Maggy (even though you do not have a blog), Nanouanne, Miss 376, and Nicole at Le Passe-Temps.
